Description: Time will be spent assisting with library events, the gallery space, the reference desk, and observing Critical Research Instruction (information literacy instruction).

(If this is an opportunity for MLIS students, the Supervisor should be a certified librarian or archivist)

Location: Chandler-Gilbert Community College, 2626 E. Pecos Road, Chandler, AZ 85225

both Pecos Campus (Pecos and Gilbert Roads) and Williams Campus (Ray and Power Roads)

Learning objectives (for intern): Learn how to function and succeed in a community college academic library:

·         learn how the reference interview and one-on-one instruction supports Critical Research Instruction;

·         learn how the programming of the exhibition space integrates into the college’s curriculum and enhances student learning. 

Tech skills required: Standard computer literacy skills

Job requirements: Enough hours during the academic semester to fulfill the requirements of the internship; flexible work hours; must enjoy working with a diverse student population face-to-face
