Description

The Arizona State Museum at the University of Arizona is in search of an IT Support Assistant (IT Support Helpdesk Analyst I). Under the direction of the IT Support Analyst, Sr, the IT Support Assistant will assist in providing hardware, software, network troubleshooting, and user account assistance to UA faculty, staff, students and volunteers at the Arizona State Museum. This support will be provided via phone, email, and in person. In addition, the IT Support Assistant will assist in on-going and up-coming IT projects as assigned. The IT Support Assistant should have some experience with Windows and Macintosh operating systems, the ability to troubleshoot and support computer hardware and basic networking knowledge of components/concepts, Microsoft Office, and a range of software applications. Equally important to the IT Support Assistant's technical skills is their desire to help and share their knowledge with users and co-workers while maintaining a friendly and service-oriented attitude.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Install and/or assist in the installation and configuration of software and hardware.
  • Resolve and help to resolve user IT issues via general troubleshooting as assigned.
  • Work on IT projects as assigned.
  • Maintain good customer service standards and help to guide ASM end users in the use of technology.
  • Ensure that necessary information is documented according to established guidelines.
  • Additional duties may be assigned.

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

  • Working knowledge of Windows and Macintosh operating systems, Microsoft Office, web browsers, and software applications.
  • Ability and willingness to learn new applications and technologies.
  • Ability to perform additional duties as assigned and/or directed.
  • Ability to work responsibly with or without direct supervision.
  • Ability to remain focused on the work at hand.
  • Self-motivated, detail-oriented, and organized.
  • Good customer service skills

Qualifications

Minimum:

  • Bachelor's degree in Information Science and Technology or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.
  • Up to 1 year of relevant work experience may be required.

Preferred

  • Master's degree in Information Science and Technology.
