Research, Innovation and Impact at the University of Arizona has a new opportunity for a KMap Business Analyst in their KMAP team. This position will begin at 0.5 FTE (fill-time equivalency) with express potential to increase in FTE, up to 1.0, as additional funding is secured. Institutional Knowledge Map (KMAP, ) collects, connects, analyzes, and visualizes the institutional knowledge landscape. The KMAP is an advanced data science system that uses many pieces of unstructured data such as grants, abstracts, publications, patents, news, achievements, courses to build the knowledge graph then provides an interactive geographic map alike interface to explore and search information.

The successful candidate will provide data-driven recommendations for business problems, translate institutional business processes to requirements, data quality, information representation, and documentation for the KMap system.

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Data validation and evaluating the KMap system 
  • Assist with planning, scheduling, developing KMap features
  • Measure and evaluate user experiences
  • Build business communication with KMap partners and prospective clients
  • Create business cases, use cases, gap analysis, and functional requirement specifications
  • Generate KMap reports and documentation
  • Create epics, user stories, and tasks for the project
  • Additional duties may be assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of IT business processing techniques and tools
  • Strong communication skill in working with external and internal team members
  • Knowledge about the software development lifecycle



  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent advanced learning attained through experience required.; AND
  • Up to 1 year of relevant work experience


  • 2+ years of relevant experience
  • Coding experience in any programming language
  • Data analytic skill gained through direct experience
  • Experience with user experience study and software requirement analysis
  • Experience with the Agile approach and the Jira systems
  • Experience reading and writing technical documents about software projects
