Research Development within Research Innovation & Impact is seeking a student worker to support a catalog refresh for grants related materials. Working with research development associates, the student would review the existing resource catalog and shared document server, develop an updated catalog schema, and support the refresh for both online and firewall protected documents. The existing resources use modified Dublin Core for the online site; this should be evaluated and either replaced or extended for the protected documents. Implementation of a reference manager for protected documents, e.g., Mendeley, EndNote, EasyBib, or similar may be implemented for unit wide resource sharing. Current resources are generally Microsoft files, PDF, video files, or other standard office files.

Tasks include:

  • Working under the supervision of research development associates, develop a plan for reviewing, refreshing, and implementing an updated resource catalog related to research grants, Grant writing, and grant getting
  • Assist with uploading, tagging, and editing transcripts of videos on YouTube, Vimeo, EDGE Learning, or other applicable platforms
  • Centering accessibility (e.g. creating image descriptions, ensuring that all documents are machine readable, etc.) in the catalog
  • Other duties as needed

Skills Required:

  • Interest in information management and library sciences
  • Basic metadata and cataloging knowledge
  • Knowledge of, or desire to learn about, accessibility in technology
  • Knowledge of, or desire to learn about, reference management software
  • Detail-oriented, ability to solve problems
  • Good organizational and time management skills
  • Ability to communicate well with faculty and staff colleagues
