UA Dance DRC Internship

The University of Arizona School of Dance Resources Center

The University of Arizona School of Dance seeks an independent, creative, dependable individual to take over the operations of its in-house library and archives, the Dance Resources Center. Duties include: managing the book collection and catalog, processing archival collections, helping students with reference questions, overseeing circulation procedures, and keeping up the overall maintenance of the space.

The Dance Resources Center is home to archival collections documenting the activity and history of the UA School of Dance, a book collection, and video collections, including the archive of UA Dance performance videos.

This is an exciting opportunity for someone seeking experience in archival processing and management, collaboration with a creative/fine arts community, and chance to gain a unique perspective on library and archives work. An intern in the Dance Resources Center would work under the supervision of Logan Dick, an iSchool alumnus who was the previous intern and now works at the UA Main Library, and in cooperation with School of Dance staff.

Practical requirements include:

* being located in Tucson and able to spend time at the Dance Resources Center

* familiarity with basic archival concepts

* experience with relational databases

* experience or knowledge of ballet, modern, and/or jazz dance is helpful but not required
