Ph.D. Alumnus lands new job at UIC!

Brian Atkinson, Ph.D. - The University of Illinois at Chicago (UIC) Library recently announced the appointment of Dr. Atkinson to a newly minted role as Visiting Assistant Professor and Digital Scholarship Research Coordinator.  He will play a critical role in the development and delivery of digital scholarship programs and services to the university community.  Brian will work closely with scholarly communication, digital publishing, the liaison librarians, digital programs librarians, and other faculty and staff across campus to build collaborative relationships and develop and implement digital scholarship services based on the needs of faculty, researchers, and students.  He will also provide project support and conduct training for faculty and students using innovative software and tools to support their research.  Data analysis, visualization, GIS, text mining, xml-encoding, digitization and imaging, metadata creation and social network analysis are some of the areas where he will build support services and models.  Brian will also establish and teach graduate courses that specialize in Digital Scholarship, visualization and data analysis.
