ATRI Student Summer Research Program Trials Operations Track: Request for Applications

December 15, 2023 - The USC Keck School of Medicine Alzheimer’s Therapeutic Research Institute (ATRI) Student Summer Research Program is an eight-week, full-time, in-person, immersive, mentor-guided summer research training program in San Diego, CA, with the aim to increase the number of highly motivated students who are interested in considering a career in Alzheimer’s Disease (AD) clinical trials. Students will work closely with and learn from an internationally renowned, multi-disciplinary team of scientists, researchers, and staff members at ATRI. Students will participate in AD clinical trials focused lecture series, workshops, and team meetings to develop competencies in AD clinical trials research and trials operations, professionalism, effective science communication, and presentation skills.

The ATRI Student Summer Research Program’s Trials Operations Track is now accepting applications. Graduate students with interest in medical research are encouraged to apply.

Program Details

Monday, June 17, 2024 – Friday, August 9, 2024

This track aims to introduce graduate students to career opportunities in AD clinical trials operations and further their professional experience. Students will complete a summer project with their assigned mentor. Students will be fully integrated into the ATRI community and will receive an hourly compensation of $20.00.

Functional areas accepting student applications are:

  •  Biostatistics: Students will become familiar with statistical analyses and developing a framework for study reporting and monitoring for ongoing clinical trials in AD.
  • Clinical Research Informatics & Data Management: Students will collaborate across both teams to create interactive Business Analytics Dashboards for Clinical Data Capture and Quality Control procedures and integrate their work with the ATRI Electronic Data Capture (EDC) System.
  • Recruitment, Engagement & Retention (RER) : Students will work on the design of AD clinical trial participant facing content utilizing different media formats. Application Requirements

  •  Must be currently enrolled in a graduate program.
