Your role stands at the intersection of organizing and the effort to make positive change in educational equity and racial justice in Arizona. As a key member of Stand’s Arizona team at a moment of tremendous need and opportunity, you will be responsible for working with individuals to develop nd create community engagement opportunities to leverage change using a team-organizing leadership model. The Organizer will be responsible for identifying, coaching, and training individuals and building engaged teams committed to taking local, district, and state action in support of improving education in their community; developing the leadership skills of members; and initiating and leading campaigns in order to advocate for better education outcomes for students. RESPONSIBILITIES:
Build a diverse and highly skilled base of engaged activists
- Organize and manage high-performing teams, leaders and fellows with clear roles and ownership who are engaged and mobilized;
- Develop, manage and grow a group of speakers/storytellers (ready and able) to testify, give interviews, and inspire others to act);
- Create and facilitate trainings, workshops and webinars; Manage volunteer led events;
- Create and leverage advocacy opportunities in support of the state impact agenda, issue and electoral campaigns;
- Help develop and maintain relationships with community leaders, key stakeholders, and local groups in your assigned turf to build strong coalitions that can work with volunteer teams, leaders and fellows
Election and legislative session
- Fully participate in election and issue campaigns
- Execute and own your part of the field plan
- Accountable to your own weekly voter contact metrics
- Manage and train volunteers and temporary election staff during recruitment and voter contact (identify, persuade, and turnout) via phone banks, text banks, door knocks
- Perform other duties as required to support the work of the affiliate
QUALIFICATIONS:
- Passionate commitment and alignment to Stand for Children’s mission, vision, and values.
- 1 paid campaign cycle required, or comparable paid organizing experience; and experience working with diverse and bilingual communities
- Experience using technology tools like Microsoft Office Suite and be comfortable learning new platforms
- Experience with Facebook and Facebook messenger, Instagram, Twitter, and/or other social media for digital communications; Strong interpersonal, communication, leadership development, and team-building skills
- Ability to be flexible and steadfast in the face of ambiguity; self-motivated problem-solver and critical thinker
- Willingness to work flexible hours including up to 3 evenings per week and occasional weekends; especially during election cycles and legislative session; full-time access to a car
- Ability to travel between Tucson and Phoenix as needed for events
- Ability to be in multiple locations in the course of a given day, the ability to transport items, and the ability to set up and take down meeting equipment (chairs, tables, projectors, screens, etc.); may require the ability to climb stairs
STARTING SALARY RANGE: $49,118-$61,397 commensurate with experience. Generous benefits.
