STUDENT WORKER POSITIONS
Available at the UA Law Library
$15/hour.
15-20 hours/week
Work hours: Monday Friday, 8am-5pm (no evenings, no weekends)

Specific Duties Include:
- Answer the Circulation desk phone and respond to in-person requests.
- Assist library users in the process of locating library materials and provide directional information.
- Interpret library user questions, provide basic answers, and make appropriate referrals.
- Check-in and check-out materials requested by patrons as well as process holds.
- Organize library materials for shelving. Shelve materials upon request.
- Monitor and maintain the library room reservation system.
- Assist users with library technology equipment, including scanners, self-checkout, library cabinet, student computers, and public computer kiosks.
- Interpret and enforce library and university policy and procedures. Interact with library users and refer to a higher level when necessary.
- Ensure that proper procedures are followed to open and/or close the library as needed, including collecting building counts.
- Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
- Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite or related software.
- Exceptional interpersonal skills.
- Strong attention to detail.
- Effectively communicate, verbally and in writing.
- Prior experience in a library preferred but not required.
Other Details:
- This is a non-exempt position. Pay rate is $15.00/hour.
- Holidays and Other Non-work Time. Student workers do not receive holiday pay or pay for time off due to illness, vacation, etc.
- Student workers are off for all UA/Law Library holidays.
- Student workers are off at end of semester through winter closure.
- Requirements:
- Able to commit to 15-20 hours per week during regular semester.
- May work up to 25 hours per week during regular semester.
- May work up to 35 hours per week during summer.
- Minimum enrollment requirement. Must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 credit hours for spring and fall work and enrolled in either summer school or 6 credit hours fall for summer work.
- Requires pre-employment screening, including professional references that will be contacted, educational credentials, and employment history/past performance.
- Upon hire, complete mandatory FERPA, Information Security Awareness, and Preventing Harassment and Discrimination training modules.
- Able to commit to 15-20 hours per week during regular semester.
