Drew Castalia

Lecturer

Drew Castalia's work and teaching focuses on games and imaginative simulations: the technology, the sociology, and the intersection of narrative and interactivity. He trained and worked as a scriptwriter in the United Kingdom in short film ("Click"), comics ("The Young Sherlock Holmes Adventures"), radio ("Byron's Darkness"), and games ("Sun and Moon"), and has published software simulations for a variety of national and international clients (Alderac Entertainment Group, AGM Container Controls, Archaeology Southwest).

In addition to teaching at the University of Arizona and continuing professional work, Drew took over principal instruction duties at the Pima Community College Game and Simulation program in 2017, where he has helped evangelize games made by hundreds of students. Since he started college-level instruction in 2012, he has developed and taught 18 original curricula from scratch.
